Dorothy B. Hansen, 85 Obituary

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Dorothy B. Hansen, of Goldsboro, passed away peacefully in her residence on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85. Born in Landenberg, Pa., on March 17, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mae Etta (Holten) Bryan. Following graduation from high school, Dorothy attended Goldey-Beacom College. For a number of years she worked as a secretary for DuPont Company. On April 15, 1947, Dorothy married the love of her life, Leon C. Hansen. Together they operated a mushroom farm in Pennsylvania. Following the sale of the farm they moved to Delaware and opened a retail store, L & D Auto Supply which they owned and operated for more than 30 years. Later, Dorothy and Leon moved to Goldsboro, where they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Dorothy loved being with her family and was a devoted wife and mother for more than 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, on Nov. 7, 2007; and her sisters, Margaret Casson and Grace Ford. She is survived by her loving children, James Hansen and his wife Connie, Jeff Hansen and his wife Michele, David Hansen and his wife Carol, Kathy Voshell and her husband Joe, her very special son Bruce Hansen; and her beautiful grandchildren, Alec, Wilson, Stephanie, Erica, Derek, Kristin, Haley, David and Brandon, great-grandchildren, Connor and Chase. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Mabel Lindecamp and Gladys Volk; and her loving brother, John Bryan and his wife Edna. Graveside services will be held noon on today, Jan. 13, 2009, at Oxford Cemetery, 220 N. 3rd St., Oxford, Pa., where Dorothy will be laid to rest beside her husband.
